So I turn 21 today, which means I don't have to take any more of this crap about my not being a "full-fledged adult", whatever that means. Also I drag myself to work every day, or college, generally for eight hours, so I think that also constitutes adulthood. I have to go down to DMV today to get a new license, which means I get rid of my old dorky license, hallelujah!
So I'm in 3D modeling II, and Animation I, and Pre-Production Design, and oh God I'm a masochist to do this and a 30-hour job, though I know people've done worse. My one professor gave me three hours of video homework. Other than that it's been fun. I'm modeling a steampunk robotic arm and right now I'm trying to figure out where to put the gears and things. It looks rather Terminator right now, but I'm going to texture it with brass. He wants it to tell a story, so I have to come up with that too. Also Barfoot, my animation professor, wants a script for an animatic by tomorrow. Aargh, I don't want to draw all those frames! It's supposed to be at least 15 seconds long, too, and I only hope it's not 30 frames a second. God.
Then again, at least I'm not in business school. It could be much worse.
I also joined the LGBTF on campus, so maybe I can get to know some people. I signed up yesterday, and these two gay guys were slapping each other around and the girl sitting behind the table said patiently, "Please, no homo fights." That just cracked me up. So I've got to haul myself to the Student Center an hour early tomorrow so I can meet with the club. I just hope it's all it's cracked up to be, because the SIGGRAPH club last semester was a dismal failure. Me and Barfoot were all that showed up, and I'm thinking of passing this year, because I have better things to do than sit in an empty room.
So maybe with Modeling II under my belt I'll be a 'real' artist, hmmm?

"Captain?!?!"
"JIM!!"
One of my favorite lines from Star Trek XI
"Hi Christopher, I'm Nero." I just love the way he says it. All friendly like with the underlying message of, "I'm going to kill you."
